As part of our commitment to impact the society positively, (AHOY) would like to invite the general public to join us for our Health and Awareness lecture.

In this lecture, a medical doctor, Dr. Bakre, will talk about the causes of kidney failure and possible preventions. Dr. Bakre, will also answer related questions.

The state of our nation, what have we achieved at 62?

After 62 years of independence, Nigeria is still in a state of trying to establish a solid state of unity across the over 250 ethnicities within the country with a high level of corruption issues which has been affecting not just the economy, but the livelihood of every Nigerian.

The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY) frowns at the underdeveloped situation of Nigeria, how should we say a supposed giant amongst many others is yet to walk at 62, this is exactly the description of Nigeria.

62years is more than enough to stabilize any nation with the advantages of mineral resources and human resources like that of which Nigeria is blessed, yet we are still chasing shadows instead of the substance.

It is not news that the major issues militating against Nigeria are corruption and disunity, this corruption has been traced to the causes of the high cost of living, unemployment, poor education, housing, poor healthcare system, insecurities, and poor infrastructures.

Secondly, disunity has also been traced to the causes of unpatriotism, hate, ethnicity, and Tribalism. Also, these have put our unity at Risk.

Furthermore, corruption has given Nigeria and Nigerians a negative image to the rest of the world, her citizens don’t trust their leaders anymore, and corruption has become a tradition that her citizens see as the norm.

Truly the average Nigerian is an educated person, who knows what’s right and wrong. But the leaders have turned Nigeria from a democratic nation to a dictatorship nation psychologically.

Although some individuals in Nigeria have also been part that contributes to this devastating state of the nation.

Individuals or groups of people involved in activities like Boko haram, other terrorist groups, kidnapping, the spread of hate speech, cultism, ritual killings, cyber crimes, and many more.

The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths calls the attention of all Nigerians, to let’s unite and to keep the peace of our nation in a nonnegotiable place, and also to do things orderly by obeying laws and others stipulated under our constitution.

The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths also wants to use this medium to encourage the Nigerian government to invest and focus more on industrialization, and to make sure every setback that has been traced to the causes of poor industrialization in Nigerian should be curbed, in other to improve the economy of Nigeria.

However, even in the face of the ills militating our society, we should not lose hope, we should come together to make Nigeria better, there are still opportunities for us to make the future of our children and society better than the present state. Patriotism should set in.

Every Nigerian should see themselves as comrades to uphold the unity and progress of Nigeria.

Wishing Nigeria a happy 62 years of independence.

Long live Nigeria!

Ahoy to Nigeria!

God bless Nigeria!

Press Release : We condemn Sunday mass killing at Ondo.

Association of Humble and Obedient youths (AHOY) condemn and express sadness over the massacre scene at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Arguably, there was a time in the history of Nigeria when there was peace and security, at least, to an extent.

However, with recent various incidents which involve kidnapping, jungle justices, forceful land grabbing and killings of all kinds, etc. It is fair to assume or conclude that the security situation in Nigeria seems to be deteriorating by the minute.

The killing of church goers during their mass at St.Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria today 05.06.2022 (as aired on TV news and Social media) further demonstrate the deteriorating state of insecurity in Nigeria.

Regardless of the motive, life should be held sacred. As such, AHOY condemn this barbaric act of killings that took innocent lives – this is a massacre.

AHOY mourns the death of victims and stand in solidarity with the victim’s family and others affected, in this difficult time and pray for them to have the fortitude to bear the loss.

AHOY urge everyone to use their influence and resources to advocate for peace at all times regardless of the situation and where.

Nigerian 1999 constitution, Sec 33, states that every person has a right to life. Sec 14 (2b), also states that welfare and security of citizens shall be the primary purpose of the government.

Therefore, AHOY calls the attention of Nigerian Government, to the provisions above to improve security as necessary to protect her citizens regardless of who they are, where they live, their political and religious inclinations.

Press Release : Children’s Day Celebration

Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY) Implores the government to take children education more seriously.

As we celebrate the children’s day in Nigeria today, The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY), celebrate with children in Nigeria and across the globe.

Children’s day is a special day dedicated to celebrate children and more importantly, to educate the public on issues of concern and to mobilise political will and resources to address those issues.

As such, AHOY, would like to cease this opportunity to advise parents to foster a conducive environment for children at home and also be a positive role models. It is believed that, this will help in the development of a child into becoming a good human being in the future.

According to unicef Nigeria, about 10.5 million children are not in school in Nigeria. This is not in line with article 28 of UNCRC which states that “all children, no matter where they live or what their circumstances, have the right to quality education”.

The Association of Humble and Obedient Youths (AHOY) call for the urgent attention of all human rights advocates globally and all necessary security authorities across Nigeria to bring the barbaric set of people or unwanted group of people involved in the crime for killing a citizen to book.
Additionally, we urge the federal government to establish more sensitization centres across the country, especially in the rural area in Nigeria. The National orientation Agency (NOA) too should make all necessary steps in order to orientate the youth in the view to avoid this kind or similar ugly incident within our society.

We also use this medium to sympathize with the entire family of the murdered student.
